Right now, laptops are the epitome of portable computing. Although the latest iPads are getting better and better with every new release, they still have a long way to go to reach the power and utility levels of a high-quality laptop. Even comparing a laptop and a tablet of the same brand, the laptop is the clear winner.

Portability is one of the biggest selling points for laptops. Where a desktop computer can offer more power, a laptop allows you to do all those things on the go. A PC even allows you to regularly change the parts and upgrade the power and performance, which is why some people prefer PCs to laptops. But people who are always traveling can’t make do with a desktop computer. They need a laptop.

Along with a good laptop, people also love a good batterie pour ordinateur portable. A faulty laptop battery can ruin your whole day. Imagine costing your company a big project just because your laptop’s battery gave out right at the time of the presentation. It is important to check your laptop’s battery regularly, and if needed, replace it in time before it starts damaging other parts of the laptop.

Here are two ways to diagnose your laptop’s battery. With these two tricks, you can tell if your laptop’s battery is fine or faulty.

Laptop Battery Checking Method 1:

The majority of the laptops now come with smart batteries that are quick to notify the user if there are any problems with the battery. However, because these smart batteries are a work-in-progress, they don’t always see the problems beforehand. That’s the reason some manufacturers are still reluctant to put these smart batteries in their machines.

However, all the manufacturers do put a Battery Test option in their laptops. Here is how you can access that Battery Test option and run a diagnostic on your laptop’s battery yourself.

  • Unplug the laptop’s charger.
  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Press the power button to turn it on again.
  • Once the laptop starts- press the Esc key or whichever key your laptop requires to enter the Start Up menu.
  • In the Start Up menu, navigate and select System Diagnostics.
  • A list of various tests will appear on your screen. Navigate and select Battery Test.
  • Once you navigate the Battery Test, plug in the charger before starting the test.
  • Click on the Start Battery Test button and wait.

After the laptop has completed the Battery Test, it will show one of the following messages on the screen:

  1. The battery is working fine.
  2. Expect a drop in battery performance.
  3. Very Weak. Expect a significant drop in battery performance.
  4. Install a new battery.
  5. No Battery. The battery might not be attached properly.

Visiting a laptop repair shop is the best practice if you see any of the last FOUR messages.

Laptop Battery Checking Method 2:

Sometimes a laptop will shut down without any prompt or error, and it won’t turn back on no matter what you do. If you ever encounter this, here is what you should do right away:

  • Unplug the charger.
  • Remove the laptop’s battery.
  • Plug in the charger and try turning your laptop on.

If the laptop powers on without any problem and keep running smoothly, it means that your laptop battery is gone, and you will need to buy a new one.
